So...We took B to a ROCKNOCEROS CONCERT! http://www.rocknoceros.com/ He was overwhelmed with all the kids there and was very clingy but did eventually warmed up to shake his shaker and enjoy the music. He put his feather on the turkey near the stage (pictured) We want to go back for the Christmas Concert but not sure we will get a chance with all the festivities going on these days.

We went to my sister's house in Ohio for turkey day. Brinson enjoyed playing with his cousins and we had ham on turkey day! He loved running around in the TN football helmet! We had a great time until I woke up Friday morning sick at my stomach. By that evening, Brinson and I both couldn't hold anything down...I will refrain from any further description but just know we were violently ill. We didn't go downtown to see the house where "A Christmas Story" was filmed like last year due to being ill. We also missed out on the parade and hockey game...So this viral thing developed into bronchitis and the doc said it can last 3 to 6 weeks. I am feeling much better this weekend. I missed a week and a half from work...not good on the pocket book.

We have been watching a lot of football lately...especially the Sooners! I am proud to say we squashed TxTech and beat down our state rival, OSU cowboys and demolished the Missouri Tigers to win the BIG 12 CHAMPIONSHIP. Brinson stayed up late to watch one of the games with us and as he was drifting off to sleep he was smiling with his eyes hardly open, saying BOOMER SOONER! tooo cute.

Of Course we had to throw in a pic of our favorite McCain supporter...Brinson who goes around at play school saying Go Joe Biden! His teacher is a big Obama fan and the kids made a sign in support of his winning the presidency...somehow Brinson liked his running mate a lot better.

October and November Video 08 Brinson went to see the turkeys at Temple Hall Farm. Of course on video I said the wrong name! He was then caught dancing at our friends house while all the guys were chatting it up. The guys were so in to their talking about old times and sports etc that they didn't even really notice Brinson was dancing to the Caillou DVD and baby Tierney was seen trying to dance too. November breezed past as if it never really happened. We are preparing for the upcoming holiday feast with my Sister Jodi and her family. We celebrated my 35th. It's more enjoyable sharing my old age with a 2 year old singing happy birthday mommy! Truly the sweetest things in life pass too quickly. We finally managed to have dinner with Randall and Claire who live only 15 minutes from us. Brinson showed their daughter Tierney all about watching Caillou on the DVD player. We had a shopping spree for new shoes. Brinson had a growth spurt and outgrew all his fall shoes. I couldn't figure out why he was having blisters until it dawned on me that we were smushing his toes into shoes too small.

We had a great rainy day to carve the pumpkins that had been sitting around since the 3rd week in October! We are trying to stay healthy but it has been hard to do. Seems like one of the three of us feels cruddy on and off lately. We plan to put our Christmas tree up this coming weekend! We have been reading lots of books on all the holiday events. Right now, Brinson loves the book by Laurie Parker, "It Really Said Christmas." We received one of her books for a baby gift and fell in love with her writing and the illustrations are wonderful. Our other 2 books are signed by this author: "The Mississippi Alphabet" and "Tales of the Good Life" We would love to get a few more of her books at some point.

Lately, Brinson has seemed to enjoy his time with us after play school. Tonight he prompted Daddy to take my hand and dance with us. We were dancing in the kitchen when he saw us and so this has become something he enjoys doing with us! Soooo Fun.

He tells me Santa is going to bring him a space ship for Christmas???? not sure where he got this idea but it may be from his Caillou's Holiday Movie, where he also has been singing "Dreidel Dreidel Dreidel, I made it out of Clay..." There is not a day that we don't just sit and crack up at what he says or does. I'm sure you with little ones can relate.

We stayed busy in October...seems to be a trend in our lives here in the NOVA area! Lots to see and Lots to do and Lots of people to visit. We drove over to Ohio for a brief visit with my sister Jodi and her family. Then we managed to visit Monticello with my parents "Pam and Gerry Buck" and Bo's cousin Mary Ellis. ME just moved to DC so we invited her to enjoy the countryside with the family...road trip! We also went to Frying Pan Park with ME...Brinson took to her well...Pops came to town and we went to the Air and Space Museum but forgot the camera, then we forgot it again and had to turn around to get it so we would have pics of our visit to the Cox Family Farm! Our little prince turned into a frog on All Hallows Eve! We had an eventful August celebrating daddy's birthday, visiting Busch Gardens and going to the Ullian's! We road on their new boat and Bo lost his wedding ring in the ocean while tubing! The funny scary part was when he fell off going way way way too fast for my comfort zone, Brinson started crying and Bo was yelling help and swimming for his life. My heart sank in my tummy because as a diver, I assumed it was something horrific. We realized he was fine and got him in the boat quickly to discover he had landed in the middle of a huge pod of dolphins and jellyfish! I was sea sick...just has happened as I have gotten older. I'm fine as long as the boat is moving or I'm under the water...so some lunch and meds, I was good to go without illness!

In September, Brinson officially started "play school" and had a hard transition off and on the entire month. My first time back to work was just as hard because I miss spending my days with Brinson. I feel sad that someone else gets to enjoy him and teach him new things. We went to see George Washington's boyhood home excavation site Ferry Farm near Fredricksburg VA. While there we took part in a scavenger hunt and won Brinson a button! This month was not without incident...yep, another trip to the ER. This time a chin laceration when Brinson decided to jump in the bath tub. It was aweful for him. I had to lay over his body hold his hands/arms down while 2 doctors did jaw thrust and leg holds to keep him still enough for the other doc to glue his chin in a straight line. He got a purple popcicle after the procedure and all was well with the world. He kept his bandaid on until the glue and steristrips wore off. He would cry for a new bandaid if he spilled his drink down his chin...too sweet! We took him to see the airplanes at the National Air and Space Museum near Dulles Airport out near where we used to live. He really had a great time. We ended the month going to Temple Hall Farm. We were invited out to see some friends for a family play date! Brinson had a great time. This farm was so wonderful. They are part of the parks and recreation funding since they raise unusual breed of long eared pigs and black n white turkeys etc. Brinson rode a cow train ride where the seat cars were painted like cows and each cow had a name. The ride took the kids through some sort of maze. At first I thought it would be a short harmless ride. So we encouraged B to ride it...but when it started to go further away from me and out of sight, I was panicking a bit. As the train drove back around and circled to a stop, Brinson had his eyes closed and he was hanging on for dear life...white knuckles and all...too funny for words! He loved the pumpkin patch and riding back to the car in the red wagon with his chosen pumpkin. More to come in October!

Our visit to Jackson TN and Oxford MS July 08

When we stayed in Jackson, we went to visit some local places like Bo's old childhood home taken out by a tornado in Feb. 2008, the Casey Jones Village train station and the Rockabilly Hall of Fame! We drove to Oxford MS to visit family and attended cousin Amanda's engagement party. We walked the Ole Miss Campus and had brunch with Great Grandaddy Ellis with GranLynn's family.

We traveled to see family and stopped to see friends along the way. We were blessed to catch up with numerous friends at the Dinosaur Park in Nashville! We also stopped in to see the Burch Family who just added baby girl Maggie to the mix! Some of our favorite and most treasured people spent time with us and we definitely missed not getting to see everyone on our quick pit stops in town. We visited friends in Nashville and Jackson TN as well as Tupelo, MS...our old stomping grounds! It was fun to see everyone...especially since it has been way toooo long. Our offer still stands to our friends to come visit anytime...you will always have a place to stay near DC! We love all of you and miss you oodles and gobs!

4th of July Weekend Around the House

Brinson had a fun 4th Holiday...he helped us with yard work before it rained, attended our neighborhood bike parade, played out back in his birthday suit, rode the mall train with friends and enjoyed playing with and pointing out American Flags in the neighborhood...although it came out a bit awkward (aka Ameriget Fagget) YIKES...We tried to change it to stars and stripes but it was too late...he was too excited to point to these national treasures without naming them to everyone in a very loud and enthusiastic voice!

A Sad Day for Our Family

Today is the day my stepdad-Gerry and my mom went to a funeral for his great-nephew. Hunter was a 17 year old senior in Choctaw Oklahoma. Hunter was found dead at a friends house and his truck was missing until yesterday when it was located stripped and torched at Lake Stanley Draper in Oklahoma. Since my mom married Gerry back in 1992, I have come to know his family well. I even worked with his nephew Danny (Hunter's Dad) at Midwest Trophy in Del City. The last time I saw Hunter he was about 7 years old. I had moved off from OK in 1998 for grad school and never moved home but for a brief time in 2000. We won't know anything more about the mysterious death of Hunter for several weeks. I am officially going back to work September 2nd. Somehow, I put my resume out there and somebody hired me. It is a great opportunity to work in an area of interest and something I haven't had a deep experience with thus far in my career. So we have been searching daycare options for several months now and finally decided on a nice daycare in someone's home about 3 miles from our house...not too far out of the way for either of us going to work! I am sad that B is not going to be with me all day long everyday. I have grown quite fond of our time together over this past 2+ years! I know he will adjust and be just fine but my heart aches for his upcoming transition...this will certainly be a big change for both of us. This time in our lives is definitely bitter sweet.

Where's He's ----- Is?

Thanks to Caillou's little sister Rosie everything is in third person, questions and contractions with Brinson these days. Caillou is a french-canandian animated boy on Sprout! He means to ask Where is my cup and it comes out Where's He's cup is?...He is asking lots of questions and his language has just exploded over this past month! I haven't had a chance to test him for age-range strengths and weaknesses but plan to real soon! We just got home yesterday from our trip to TN and MS. Bo's cousin had a wedding engagement party we attended in Oxford, MS. We made brief pit stops in Nashville on our way to Jackson TN and then Tupelo on our way to Oxford MS to see a few people but agreed we had way too many important people we would have loved visiting with, had time permitted. We may need to spend a whole weekend the next time we get down south. Bo's parents loved their time with Brinson. He was GO, GO, GO from the time he woke up and his bedtime mysteriously got pushed back to 930pm central time...more than I cared for but he is a bit older now, so I let it slide! Of course, his routine won't be normal until all our travels end toward the end of this month. We are re-packing and leaving for NC to pickup Aunt Leah and Cousin Ellie before heading to Orange Beach! I plan to post pics soon.

FINALLY...AN UPDATE! March - June 2008

So I am always late on my blog but I do get around to it...eventually! I hope to provide a brief update per month as follows:

March- We had our little bunny bundled up in the cold weather searching for plastic Easter eggs that had M&M's hidden within...Brinson definitely was up for the challenge! Aunt Jodi, Uncle Glenn and cousins came for a visit. Then Grandma Pam and Papa Gerry came to stay a whole week while Bo and I went to London...an early 4 year anniversary trip!

April- We moved into our new house, welcomed GranLynn back for a visit and celebrated Brinson's 2nd Birthday with a backyard party. We grilled out and enjoyed his new swing set that GranLynn and Pops purchased!

May- We have made a tradition over the past 2 years of taking Brinson to the Zoo for his birthday. So the weekend after our party we took him and GranLynn to see the National Smithsonian Zoo. He loved the elephants and of course the "DIGGER" on the contruction site of the giraffe habitat! By the end of the month, Brinson and I(shae) went to visit my family in OK. Uncle Eric graduated high school and accepted a scholarship to run for Oklahoma Christian University!!!! We split our time between all the grandparents and friends. Brinson had a load of fun especially hanging out with cousin Maddie, celebrating cousin Gabbie's 1st birthday, riding the tractors with Papa Gerry, playing outside in the dirt with Grandma Pam, going to his Great Papa Ray's house to see the cows, visiting a local family farm with my friend Beca, watching the dogs with Uncle Eric and looking at the animals at the OKC Zoo with Papa Don and Nana!!!

June- We came home just in time to say a sad good-bye to 2 family friends Jim, Candise and playmate Taylor, who moved back to MS and Clay, Ruth and their 3 kids, who left for 4 years of missionary work in Macedonia. Then we welcomed more visitors! GranLynn, Aunt Leah and cousin Ellie all came to visit and all just celebrated birthdays! We played in the yard, toured DC, walked around Frying Pan Park and went to our 1st Nationals baseball game at the new stadium, near the Capitol.

July- Stay tuned in for more to come. We have plans to hang around for the 4th but mid month we are packing to go across to TN and MS. We are going to see Bo's family and his parents new everything due to their loss from the tornado. We have plans to visit Jim, Candise and Taylor in MS along with other family and friends. Bo's cousin Amanda is getting married and we are attending a party in her honor!!!

August- More plans brewing! We are going to go to the beach with Bo's Mom and siblings. This should be fun with Brinson and Ellie!

(Dec07), Last White House Christmas 2007, Our 2nd Big Snow (Jan 08), Grandma Pam going back to OK (Jan 08), Brinson having a picnic (Feb08) Okay, We are so sorry not to have updated until now...here goes a lengthy 2 month recap of January and February 2008. Things have been hectic and exhausting for a while now. We went to Jackson TN and Oxford MS over the Christmas holiday. Brinson had to go to the urgent care twice. He was very ill and required blood test, shots and lots of medication. He had some happy times but for the most part, he just wanted "up on mommy, hold you." He slept and cried with fever of 103.8-104.2 for 4 days straight without it breaking. I(Shae)became ill the day we decided to drive home. My illness spiraled from sinus stuff into bronchitis and then pneumonia. On top of that I caught the flu...so of course, Brinson had the flu too but we put him on the tamiflu medicine and it lessened his symptoms! So I was literally sick for a month and a half, so much so that Bo was taking off work to come take care of Brinson and me. Then we called in reinforcement...my mom. Grandma Pam was on a plane the very next morning and stayed for 2 full weeks including 2 1/2 weekends! Brinson enjoyed his time with her and still wakes up at times asking about her as if she is still in the house somewhere...very sweet! We loved seeing family over the holiday, especially Brinson's great-grandparents! Little did we know it would be our last official Christmas in Bo's childhood home. This past month a tornado ripped through Jackson and demolished the house with GranLynn inside. It was a miracle she was not hurt...I truly believe God had his hands upon her that night. So the aftermath continues as Brinson's paternal grandparents are displaced with belongings randomly in boxes. They have cleared their lot and sold it the very day they listed it! Now, they will be looking for a new home, new car, new....etc, etc, etc! Currently, Brinson is getting over his second battle with the flu...this time it is type B? I really don't understand how he could catch all this. I think it hasn't been as bad on him or Bo because they both had the flu shots...yes, Bo has the same crud ongoing for a week now. Also, over this last 2 months we have been searching for another home to rent. We finally found something worth our hard earned money! It cuts Bo's drive time in half or less and we will be 3 miles from a metro station and a 25 minute drive in to DC...it used to take us 45 minutes to an hour or longer at times. We are thrilled and will be signing our new lease tomorrow for moving in April. We are so thankful the owner changed her mind today! She has agreed to let us rent it for 3 years! We hope at the end of our lease, we will decide what our future holds in or out of the area! I hope to get more pictures and video up by the end of the month! shae

Before Christmas Holiday Travels 2007

Well, this last 3 weeks have been crazy! Brinson's vocabulary has been expanding daily and he never ceases to amaze us at what he knows that we didn't have a clue he even understood. One morning before work, Bo was reading books with Brinson and he wanted to read DR. SUESS, the Foot Book...and before Bo could start, Brinson pointed to his sockless foot and said "not sock (paused)... cold toes" and then looked to the other side and said "not cold (paused) pointing... "my sock." Bo asked me if I taught him that and I was just as shocked as he was to hear it. He says most anything immediately after hearing someone say it and has lots of 2-3 word phrases with some 4 word simple sentences/phrases within the past week. Brinson battled his first ear infection since his tubes were placed last April...so I thought he did very well having tubes, considering this illness comes with the season. Due to being under the weather, he wasn't able to play in our first powder snow of the winter...we received about 3-4 inches! Our friend Kami made it back from her 4 month Mission Trip to Africa! She flew back in to DC and extended her stay...so we were able to grab lunch with her before she returned to Nashville. She is an amazing person with lots of inspiring stories to tell from her time in Africa...check out the link to read about her personal journey. This past weekend we went to Williamsburg for the day. We strolled the streets of the original colonial town, admired beautiful seasonal decorations from the 18th century, went to some of the boutiques in the main town, watched the "neigh neigh" horse drawn carriages, toured some of the homes as well as Bruton Parish Episcapal Church where we learned the 18th century history of this very famously attended church...such as 7 of the signees to the Declaration of Independence and Mrs. Martha Custis prior to her marriage to GW and then we were on the road again...We stayed the night in Virginia Beach with our friends, the Ullian's. We ate at Primo's for dinner then had assorted cheese/crackers/fruit with several wine selections after dinner. We also met their other house guests, Brian and Stacy. We had a great time. On Sunday, we had the privilege of attending church services with Maureen and hearing Mr. Jim preach! On our way home we decided to drive by the White House Christmas Tree to see it lit up at night. I attempted to take pics but none faired well with the lighting. The next day I took Brinson to Arlington Cemetary to see the wreath layed tombs and then went to lunch with Claire and Tierney...the wife and daughter of Bo's fraternity brother, Randall from Ole Miss. Then we were on the road to our next destination...Sarah's house. Sarah and her family love Maverick and kept him over the weekend...so we went to pick Mav up and have tea with the girls! Since then went to visit Taylor and his mommy Candise, had Jasmin and her mommy Sarah over for lunch, had repairmen over to replace the hot water tank that went bad and the repair the cracked windshield from a rock hitting us this week and tonight we had dinner with Sarah Kate, Nathan and their parents! Whew...so we are packed and ready to leave for our Holiday! To Be Continued...trying to upload pics but not working at the moment...too tired to mess with it!

A Month of Thanksgiving - November 2007

This has been a great season. We had some church friends over on my 34th birthday and went to the park with their twins. Brinson had a sliding contest with daddy but my camera had low battery so they didn't turn out very well. The leaves changed colors late this Fall and it has been unseasonably warmer than usual...but still cold compared to some places. We enjoyed a day of leaf raking and playing in the piles. I remember my G-MA/PA McInturff raking leaves for me to fall in and I wanted to have Brinson experience that same kind of fun memory...He was so funny and enjoyed every bit of it! Michelle came to visit with her boyfriend George. I drove in to DC and told them I could almost guarantee that we would get lost...AND, we did! This time I didn't end up in Maryland and it was only 30 minutes extra. Many Thanks to George for the map navigation in the back seat...YAHOO! My usual exit was blocked off due to Veteran's Day Parades in DC...so I found a new way to get to Penn. Ave....so we did a drive by of the Ford's Theater and then parked on the back side of the Capitol. It was a great mishap! Went to Ohio for Thanksgiving with my sister and her family. It was good to see all the boys actually playing with each other. Troy was very good to Brinson. Cole was still not used to Brinson being old enough to take his toys...so they struggled a bit but still had a good time. We helped trim the tree, had a singing competition with Brooke's play station 2 "American Idol" video...very cool and lots of fun! Bo looked up what Cleveland had to offer and planned a small site seeing adventure for the day we were coming home. So it just so happened to be the very weekend that they were having the Christmas Story convention with Ralphie look-alike contest, red rider gun target practice and actors signing autographs etc. We went downtown Cleveland to the house where "A CHRISTMAS STORY" was filmed in the Tremont area. Some guy bought it a few years back and we overheard someone say that the house looked much better this year and it had more furnishings. It was a low budget film, so the memorabilia is limited... but it was still fun. YOU'LL SHOOT YOUR EYE OUT!

Wow...it's already Fall Season! We went for a brief visit to OH for cousin Cole's 3rd birthday. While visiting we went to my second farm with a big pumpkin patch! I was more interested in the rocks. My cousins jumped in my bathtub...I didn't like this at all...but did manage to laugh at Troy a few times. Mommy and Cousin Brooke put me in my Dumbo outfit...at first I was upset but I laughed at myself in the mirror...those big ears were funny. I spent some time with Grandma Pam visiting too! We flew into to Memphis to visit my Great-Grandparents...it was a long flight because I screamed for 10 minutes and the stewardess came over to help my very frustrated parents...I have seperation anxiety but was so fed up with sitting that I went to the attendant for a 15 minute parental time out! We went to Nanny's in Bolivar TN...Uncle Andrew came over after work and we all had BBQ...except I refused to eat it, so daddy bought me a filet-o-fish at McD's and I ate the whole thing! I gave night night kisses to everyone and then went off to bed. To my surprise, I woke up with Pops and GranLynn in the living room. Wow! We left Nanny's late afternoon to go to Oxford MS. We were going to a birthday party for Great Grandaddy. He turned 86...I can't count past 3...but I bet it means he knows a lot of things! I met lots of cousins at the party. The next day we went to my very 1st football game...Arkansas vs. Ole Miss. Mommy said I could support both teams because she did! GO TEAMS! I had fun in the Grove but it was a long day. We drove back to the airport the following day. I did much better on the way back...I was tired and slept the entire flight!!!! One guy complimented me on what a good boy I was and then told of his arrival flight with a screaming toddler. He continued his story of saying how he thanked the flight attendant for calming the kid down...then we smiled and told him, it was us on his Thursday flight!!! Daddy had KPMG day at Cox Family Farms. We looked at all the animals and got to pet a few, slid down 4 slides, ate a picnic lunch, went for a hay ride, climbed a hay stack like Lil Boy Blue and learned all about COWS! MOO MOO or MOO COW is the preferred name...this is where my COW obsession began! We went to Miss Ruth B's to see her newest addition Daniel. I need more practice on how to be around babies. I think I should treat them like I do my stuffed animals and balls...yep, I made Daniel cry but I signed "sorry" after mommy put me in time out. I played with Caroline some and became good buddies with Peter. I love Peter's single car that looks like it should be in the Flinstones! All Hallows Eve was fun. We went to Trunk or Treat at a local church. They had mini amusement park rides for the kids and the trunks of cars were decorated. We played all kinds of games for treats! We worked up an appetite, so we went to Logan's to eat something other than candy. Then we went Trick or Treating in our neighborhood.

Cousin Rob came to visit briefly. He was in town for the evening. Rob's rental car was a mustang! He showed me all the controls when I woke up to greet him before work. We attended my friend Andrew's 3rd birthday party at Chuck E Cheese's...I was scared of everything but 2 hours later, I rode my first carousel horse and monster truck. I also slid by myself down the slide without any help from mommy...YEEHAW I love playing piano...thanks to Grandaddy! Of course, I can't resist anytime I get to go outside and play ball. I went to an open house for the Lil Kickers Soccer Program...I was able to hang with the older kids on all the motor stuff but when it came to listening and following directions...well, let's just say I need some improvement! Daddy's friend Nick came to DC for a conference...So we went to town to visit. This is when I rode my first big outdoor carousel with daddy outside of the Smithsonian Castle. We also went to the Air and Space Museum and they had some of the American History Museum pieces on display since it is closed for renovations. At the end of a busy month and we managed to squeeze in a visit to the Great Country Farms...My favorite books are "EIO EIO" which is the Old MacDonald Book and then "MOO COW" which is the Flip up Animal book by Fisher Price...

We had these pictures taken by R.David Photography the first weekend in May. It was a beautiful Sunday evening about 5:30pm. Of course, this just so happened to be Brinson's mealtime and shortly there after his bedtime. So, we are very pleased with the pictures that did turn out...since he was not the most cooperative subject! We did not get our Smiley to smile that much at all...matter of fact, he cried between location shots etc...just when he would get happy...it was already time to move on to the next photo. He didn't understand what was happening, getting out in the cool weather, sitting in flowers, bushes, shrubbery and changing outfits in between the landscape...We think under the circumstances...Ruthie worked some miracles! Labor Day Weekend!

Yahoo...daddy had a whole 3 1/2 days at home with mommy and me! We decided to go visit the Jefferson and FDR Memorials...then we walked to the Smithsonian Castle (not pictured...yet) We sat on a shaded park bench for snack time...we shared some yummy lemonade flavored italian ice! We walked around to the front of the castle to see all the big kids riding the carousel (also not pictured) Gosh...daddy and mommy enjoyed their time with me so much...they forgot to take pictures...oops. We will just have to retrace our steps another day! Later, we played in my room and had lots of fun climbing in and out of my pampers box.

GranLynn and Pops came for a visit! They were helping cousin Ellie move to NC because her daddy made it into physical therapy school...Way to go Uncle Grant! So we had a nice visit except for mommy getting a stomach virus just before they arrived and had a bout again at the end of the week...get well mommy. Of course Daddy and I had this same ailment a few weeks in a row before we shared with mommy! Pops bought me a tubby boat and some water balls for the bathtub and a rev n roll firetruck. I was scared at first and then I warmed up to it...well enough to push the button and run like mad to the nearest person that would hold me! We ate lunch with daddy on Tuesday and played at the Tyson's Corner Galleria. On Wednesday we celebrated daddy's 33rd birthday...he looks pretty good for an old man! The next day daddy took off from work and we drove to WV to check out Harpers Ferry. We learned about a man who was tried and hung for raiding the armory and most of the town while stiring up trouble among the slaves...his name was John Brown. Every morning Pops and Daddy would play with me after I woke up...and these days...I am really into making motor sounds for any vehicle on the road. I also love to play with balls, hats and my penguin puppet.

Just to let you know...I am slow at updating! He He He...as if you hadn't figured that out. We have had some fun lately and Brinson is growing leaps and bounds. I tested him a month ago (15mos) and he has the receptive and expressive language of a 2 year old...My LOVE is so smart...at least we think so of course. He is putting some short phrases together and has numerous words and new word-approximations daily.

He can clearly be understood saying: I see you, momma, daddy, done, down, bye bye kiss, read daddy, bye bye daddy, balloon, all done, yummy, uh oh, hat, swim, ball, toot, cup, juice, bite, duck, potty, Bo, cow, moo, hi, go, kick, cake, cook, no no, night night, some more, doggie, get it, kiss, cat, pop pop and yes. Other words are not as clear such as: sh/sit, now omits-p in up, d/banana, fish is distorted, dropped the nack and started just saying s-s-s- for snack, shoes (final s for z sound), omits-r and distorts the medial-n saying Brinson, omits-r in truck (final t for k sound), distorts final t in hot, omit-l sleepy, changes the vowel sound in papa and baby. He still signs when he want to...especially for drink, eat, bird, fish, duck, phone and up...and nods his head yes and no!

Brief explanation on VB/Norfolk Vacation July 2007

We had a wonderful time. We went to visit Jim and Maureen in VB. They were so great with Brinson...he loved it there. They fed us big healthy meals and introduced us to some very fine cooking! It was truly memorable. They took us to the boardwalk the first night...we walked from about 21st to 49th or something like that...Bo and Maureen strolled back and I ran back to 19th and turned around and caught them strolling around 27th street...it was a long but beautiful jog! We went to a private military beach to keep the crowds to a minimum on this fabulous holiday weekend. We had a grand time until Brinson and I got knocked down by a very strong rip current...it was sort of scary but I'm glad it happened to me rather than Brinson being held by someone else...I have a sinking feeling in the pit of my tummy just thinking about it. Anywho...it took Brinson a bit to want to even get near the water after that episode. Bo got bit 4-5 times by a ground wasp...he dropped his shorts so he wouldn't smash it into his leg...it was very funny at the time. He was bent over with his shorts at his ankles and apologizing to everyone as if he were bowing to each person...it was hysterical. However, we quickly stopped laughing and put a wet sand compress on his bites for 20 minutes and then made him get in the water to soak for about the same...He had difficulty walking at first for where the bites were and how swollen and welped his upper thigh had become. We picked our own crabs! That was very messy and harder than one might think. I had some good pickin and came out as the best new comer to the trade after several tries of course and some great coaching by David and Leah...Jim and Maureen's adult children, slightly younger than us. We watched the fireworks on the outside deck...Brinson was asleep and woke to the booms...so after he calmed I brought him outside to see them too...He would say "bomb" instead of "boom" but it was cute! We went sightseeing in Norfolk. We went on the inactive USS Wisconsin battleship and toured the General Douglas MacArthur Memorial Museum. Both were very neat to see. We appreciated the hospitality of Jim and Maureen and hope to visit them sometime soon!

Bo planned a get away to Williamsburg over the 4th of July. It is only about 3 1/2 hours from our house in northern VA. We stayed there for about 4 days before going on to visit the Ullian's. We were witness to how Williamsburg was during the time of the British envasion headed up by Lord Cornwallis. Everyone who participated and dressed up was volunteering for the event. It was neat to see. We also saw the Revolutionary City when the British took over the town changed and they would reenact the takeover by putting out the British flags along with numerous speeches of the men of the times including the Govenor, Lord Cornwallis, the Chaplain and Patrick Henry. We took one full day at Jamestown and the settlement. We liked the island best. A very moving place to be, knowing our ancestors came up that very river to change our lives forever. We went to Yorktown and saw a bunch of canons and open fields. We learned of the history that took place there and mapped it out via a drive...the walk was much too spread out in the heat. We visited the home where the George Washington and the British worked out the articles of surrender...as you may remember, it was 2 more years before Jefferson would write the Declaration of Independence that would free us from our European Monarchy.

Aunt Jodi came to visit us for her birthday. We had a good time! We went for long exercise walks near our neighborhood, Arlington National Cemetary and Mount Vernon. I think we wore her out...she is gettin kinda old now!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AUNT JODI...come back to visit any time!

We also had a nice treat getting to meet and spend time with Mr. Jim U., a friend of Pops he knew in seminary school. He treated us to lunch, showed us his blue hog and gave me a green bear! Mr. Jim was in town as the Chaplain for the events surrounding support of Fallen Officers for the past year. Officers rode their bicycles and motorcycles hundreds of miles in support and honor of those who lost their lives serving the public.

We plan to visit Mr. Jim and his family at the beach this next week!

We took Brinson to the Zoo for his !st Birthday Weekend Extravaganza! We had a great time. He was interested in some of the animals more than others...He especially liked the Lion, Elephants and the Sea Lions. We let him have some licks of a chocolate icecream cone for his big day...he liked it okay but would rather have had his fruit. We took the subway system to and from the Zoo. This was a first for Brinson and mommy. He only got scared 1 time but he shook it off like a big boy!

We went back to the Zoo a few weeks later to meet up with Ruth and her kids. We had a good time but Brinson's health quickly regressed from about 1030am to 200pm. I called Daddy at 1pm to make him an appointment for the next day while they were open. Then at 200pm I called Daddy back and asked him to call for any appointment they had open this very evening. He made us an appointment at 515pm...

So we were driving home to get ready for his doctor's visit and he started having a respiratory attack. I called Daddy for the nearest urgent care, he said he would call me right back with directions. I was sitting at a red light and he had stopped making sounds, he was crying and turning colors but no sound...I gunned it through the red light and pulled over. I hoped the back seat and quickly pulled him out of his seat. I massaged his chest and neck and back. He still wasn't breathing. Then I turned him over and starting doing back blows from CPR and he started crying and coughing. Daddy called back with directions and we were off...So Brinson went to the ER and waited about 5 minutes in a very busy ER and was brought back immediately.

The doctors and nurses were very quick responding. We were there for observation, ex-rays and meds. We waited over an hour to get his chest and neck ex-rayed...so he was only allowed water. Then we waited another hour for the pharmacy to order the meds correctly, as they kept trying to order adult versions or children's pills and not liquid. He finally got his liquid oral steroid. He immediately started swelling in the eyes and cheeks but it calmed his Sea Lion bark he developed while at the zoo. They diagnosed him with Croupe...but said it was atypical as he only had the cough but no other signs. We think it was something in the air that cause him distress because he had lots of mucous that covered his vocal folds, as he could phonate fine one minute and sound congested the next.

Brinson has not returned to the zoo and was fine the next day.

Here we arrive at the surgery center. It is early and Brinson has not had anything to eat or drink since mommy set the alarm to nurse him at 145am...so far so good! The pacifier has kept him at bay for now. Daddy is the go to guy for the morning since Brinson will get upset wanting to nurse with mommy. Both my boys are doing a great job! Brinson is having tubes put in since he has had an ear infection since Thanksgiving that comes and goes but the Biggest indicator that was undetected for months was the results of a tympanogram. Most people don't know to check this kind of thing. I set Brinson up with his ENT and an Audiologist. The Audiologist did the test that measures middle ear function which basically checks how well the 3 middle ear bones are responding to sound movement. The first test showed middle ear fluid with some movement which looks like a small peaked hill on the chart. The next time he had it, there was hardly any movement at all. He was to have the surgery April 3rd but we were on our goodwill tour. So he is having it done on the 17th. The surgery went well. Dr. Fox said Brinson was most likely not able to hear hardly at all near the end of all this mess. She said he had a thick mucous build up in both ears. She also said he may startle to sounds he hadn't previously until he gets used to hearing again. WOW. Thank God mommy had some good instincts and a background in a related field.

Brinson decided he would hibernate after having the surgery. He was worn out!

I wrote the poem below at the end of February after my Granny was hospitalized with a middle cerebral artery stroke that eeventually ended her life March 17th, 2006.

IN HONOR OF YOU

Blessed is the one of purity so sweet, Christ smiles on her behalf. Devoted to her beliefs, family and friends, She of notable value…grew and aged with grace. Wisdom imparted to all who knew her tender nature, To ask her she would humbly deny such a thing. A Christ-like life was what she lived, Remember and treasure all that you have…As she would freely give of herself. Removed beyond her earthly body, Some would say untimely. But…How can we say we’re empty, Can there be such a thought? Fulfillment in her life and amazed by her memory, We are all blessed to have our life paths cross. Struggles are for those left behind, We tenderly cry in selfishness to hold her. Weeping no more but weeping just the same. Amazing is our Abba Father who joyfully called her home. We should always embrace the parting of this truly remarkable lady… For she has seen the face of God and by his grace…can now rest in Heaven’s Realm. There are many names she was honored to have, but only one she will keep. Daughter in Christ.

The hardest part of my trip was watching mommy and Granny Pam cry while paying our respects to Great Granny and Papa McInturff's grave site. Mommy tells me about her and we sing her prayer songs and love jingles every night. Great Granny Bea past away on St.Patrick's Day, March 17th 2006. Mommy couldn't go due to doctors rders. So we went to Fayetteville for some closure and to visit mommy's friend Chad and his family. I got to see all kinds of ducks up close and personal. I think they wanted food. Great Papa Mac picked this spot especially for us to visit him often and enjoy the pond with the ducks. I went by my great grandparents house to see the trees mommy helped Great Papa Mac plant when she was a little girl. We also got to see Great Granny Bea's beautiful azaleas...no wonder that is mommy's favorite plant! The azaleas were gorgeous. Then I went over to meet mommy's friend Chad. I tried to play with his son Noah S. Of course, I was a "bully" knocking him over to get to his toys, using him to stand up and stealing his pacifier right out of his mouth. Yep...I haven't got this friend thing down yet...but there is hope for me! We met lots of Cousins and Great Aunt Faye on our way through AR to meet Pops in Jonesboro for the 2nd part of our trip! Thanks Papa Gerry and Granny Pam...it was a good trip. I will see you this summer! I plan on driving that big boat again. In Jackson TN we had a fun time with Aunt Leah visiting. Great Nanny came up from Bolivar to stay a few days...I made her smile and laugh a lot...she said I was "TOOT" this must be a good thing! She also called me sweet and precious a bunch...so I will believe her. More cake, more presents...this is becoming fun! I had my second 1st birthday party on Easter Sunday. We had cake and icecream then hunted Easter eggs. It was fun except when GranLynn tried to make me a lamb. I liked smashing the eggs together but they would crack. I am really into anything that moves that is spherical-like (balls, eggs, cars) and picture books. Mommy says I am gonna be a ball player...we shall see...Cardinals...here I come. Do you think they will need a left handed pitcher when I get big? Yes, I am still dominant with my left hand! I just keep improving on walking...and now I can go the entire length of the living room at GranLynn's house! It's hard to believe I was crawling more than walking just a week ago. I went to visit MY birthplace...there was some guy named Elvis that was born there...signs say it is his birthplace but it is MINE. We had fun with our friends The Dodson's. Mommy's camera wasn't working then...so we don't have any pictures from that visit...so we will wait on Miss Melissa to send us some or post some on Chan's site! We had a long but fun day...topping it off with dinner at the Tupelo Country Club. I had a good time with my Great Aunt Janet, Great Uncle Jack and cousins. (Anna Grant and her parents Brannon & Catherine) She had such cute cheeks, I wanted to "squeeze" them. I couldn't figure out why she didn't have any hair. mmmm...we hope she grows beautiful hair like her mommy! Off to Oxford on LUCKY Friday the 13th to see Great Granddaddy E. He enjoyed spending time with me. I made him chuckle all the time. He even had a wild hair and decided to let me take Millie for a ride. She didn't like it at all...I thought it was funny. Millie would just bark at me. I watched Millie walk in and out of this little door so I thought I would give it a try...Mommy jokes with me about being a dog in a previous life! I spent my time with Great G-daddy E reading books about the ducks, pushing stuff off the table, throwing my cup, playing with my birthday card and chasing Millie. GranLynn was always trying to pose me for pictures and Pops would make funny noises and talk to himself...he was really funny. I love having grandparents that can be goofy with me. Our visit here was short but cherished! Thanks Great Granddaddy E, Great Nanny, Pops and GranLynn we had fun. We even got to spend time with Uncle Andrew driving us to Memphis! He makes me laugh. Here I am waiting for this plane trip to stop. We went to Oklahoma today. (March 29th) Daddy flew in on a different plane. So we met him in mommy's home town! We were there for a wedding and to visit my grandparents! We were very busy and I met lots of mommy's friends. I stayed up late...way past my bedtime and the rest of my trip just dominoed...I was tired but a very good boy. I went to a wedding rehearsal and then attended the wedding on Saturday. Temperence was a beautiful princess bride...boy Chris is one lucky guy! I had my first professional hair cut by Papa Don and Uncle Eric's barber. He has been cutting their hair for a very long time. I was happy before and after the big event but I didn't like the middle part! That man kept spraying my head with water and coming toward my face with some very sharp scissors...what would you do...yep, I knew it...you would cry too! I had a lot of first things this visit...including walking! I took side steps on Sunday, April Fools Day. Then out of know where I saw this big red dog named Clifford...I was so excited I walked straight to him...he was very big, especially on Papa Don's wall TV. I took about 6-8 steps in a row. I had a great time playing with my new friend Brooks and his mommy Shanin..but I'm not sure he liked my "In Your Face Approach." Deana came over later and we became fast pals. I went to my Cousin Madison's house to visit her, Uncle James and Aunt Melanie. Maddie is so silly and she is very bright...asking lots of questions. I wasn't able to tell her everything...so I can't wait to be a big boy to really play with her! I started getting better at this walking thing with 12 steps in a row. I went on my first boat ride on a lake. Mommy said the lake was dirtier than she had ever seen it. In OK they call Lake Thunderbird...dirty bird...and for a very good reason! Papa Gerry let me be the CAPTAIN of the boat. I put on Cousin Joey's life vest...I'm not big enough yet...I think I'll stick to the little one this summer. I had fun atching Josh and Joey...they are big boys! Cousin Shelby was nice from a distance...I ouldn't figure out why she had 3 different hair colors...crazy teenager! We had a birthday party at the Olive Garden...Granny Pam had been too sick during the week to plan anything out at the house...So we took the party to a restaurant! I was very excited about the cake and candle bit...but not so sure about tasting it...I liked the raspberry sauce! I even wore a paper hat without snapping it under my chin! I even got to open presents like at Christmas...I got nike shoes, pj's,an OU outfit and baseball cap...just to name a few things! I had a great time... I have been busy, so to recap: I went to Aunt Jodi and Uncle Glenn's house for Cousin Troy's birthday in March. Of course I took mommy! I had my first ER visit 3 days into my trip...not because the wooden high chair fell on my head but because I had an allergic reaction to walnuts. yep...I had carrot cake for a snack and mommy didn't know it had nuts in it. I couldn't stop vomiting from about 730pm on. It was at the ER that the doc said what I really had was the stomach flu which was just a coincidence with the allergic reaction...he said I already purged my body of the nuts but the continuous vomiting was the flu...yeah... How many more days are we staying in OHIO...just 8 more! We had a blast after everyone past the stomach flu around, boy vacations are so much fun! Sunny days are on the way. I went swinging with my buddy Noah and his big brother Andrew. I've discovered dirt and these things called flowers are fun to pull out of the ground! I am really starting to enjoy bathtime so much that I get mad at mommy when she tells me it's time to get out...so I tell her "NO" by streaming and making my pouty face...I'm still working on perfecting it. Brinson went on another plane ride to OK for a wedding. Our friends, Chris and Temperence, got married in Ardmore OK. So we traveled in for their wedding and an extended stay with grandparents. We have been super busy seeing friends and family. Our camera battery powered down, so we will have to wait to share our trip to Fayetteville Ark and the festivities in Jackson TN visiting daddy's family. Brinson with mommy's friend Deana. Brinson with his new buddy Brooks, the son of mommy's friend Shanin. All of us with Chris, the groom, after a long day of celebrating. Brinson and mommy with Temperence, the princess bride! So we recently got back from our trip to Cleveland OH but while there I discovered a jewelry line called Silpada. This jewelry was so nice it looked like it should have been in a store or boutique. I was very impressed and thought to myself...what girl doesn't like jewelry and what guy doesn't feel inclined to by his girl some of it. Sooooo...I am thinking about selling it for several reasons and need some input. 1. free jewelry when hosting and the rep gets the same amount of $ in cash 2. no pressure sales, since it sells itself 3. earn enough to get a house keeper, pay for my car payment/student loans 4. earn to save for vacation etc. not sure what I can do with it since its about knowing people and most reps start with their family and friends and hope to move to those you don't know. Just a quick post...will write more later! Brinson turned 10 months old yesterday. He is growing up so fast the days just seem to fly by and I find myself wondering...when did he start doing_________...fill in the blank. Just this past week he has started trying to roll his hands with "patty cake." We are going to visit his Uncle Glenn and Aunt Jodi next week and will be there for cousin Troy's 4th birthday...this should be interesting! I'll let you know if Troy or Cole decided to use him for a punching bag....YIKES. Brinson is expecting 2 baby girl cousins at the end of May and beginning of June...so we are very excited to await the arrival of Gabby and Ellie! The pics below are of us in our 2nd snow but it really was the first good powder snow for snowballs and snowmen! Brinson was less than thrilled to be in it with the snow falling in his face and attaching to his eyebrows and eyelashes. The other pics are of him in the fridge...every time it opens, holding a valentine card from his favorite Great Nanny White and standing at his favorite room with a view, his window...it faces the street where he watches everything, especially all the school kids and school buses! shae

More to Brag About...

Happy Valentine's Day! Brinson is doing great. I scored him on the PLS-Preschool Language Scale today and he did wonderful...of course! Brinson's strengths and weakness of auditory and expressive language fall in the 1 year and 5 month range...Way to go Smiley! He is still content to climb up things, crawl fast, stand near things and cruise around things...no independent walking yet...and we are fine with that... Today, I showed Brinson some picture cards to see what he could identify and was quite shocked to learn that he could ID 4 animals from a choice of 2...like a picture of a cat versus a banana...then I made him choose between 2 animals and he was able to get 3 out of 4...I think he got excited about the kitty cat and kept picking the cat or he was tired of my "therapy!" FUNNY STORIES: The other day Bo came home and he said, "give daddy a kiss"...and Brinson licked him (hehehe) Brinson has noticed our dog more lately and I mention that when Maverick licks he is giving kisses...so I guess he decided that he would lick rather than make the fish lip smacking kisses he has been giving. On Monday we were doing our usual "Music Time" at the computer so he can look at the graphics and listen to music...and he was so in to this one song called The Ants Go Marching that he instantly started laughing and smiling AND clapping. Brinson is really interested in our plants around the house...he does a lovely job of pruning them! And some of the plants really do look better...he is such a good helper. Now, not only the green plants are peaking his interest but the DIRT...yep, just this week he has taken a big handful of dirt and quickly put it in his mouth when he saw me coming to remove him from the mess...OH BOYS

Well, a brief update since I'm on here... Today our little cutie was chewing on something he shouldn't and I had to sweep his mouth for the item...and he looked at me and signed eat! He also said..."hush" which is what I say to our dog Maverick daily. He pats his belly when I say..."food, get in my belly." He has been under the weather with ear infection and head colds since the beginning of December...so we hope he is on the mend soon! Enjoy

A "short" list of AMAZING Brinson Skills: ~ practicing sitting in his bumbo at 4 months ~ rolling over from belly to back at 4 1/2 months ~ rolling over from back to belly at 5 months ~ crawling at 6 months ~ pulling up to stand at 7 months ~ balancing/standing at his play table at 8 months ~ cruising around his table at 8 1/2 months ~ climbing up on furniture at 8 1/2 months ~ breastfeeding from birth ~ using a 2 handled soft spout sippy cup at 5 months ~ eating homemade first solid foods at 5 1/2 months...strategies come from Super Baby Food Book (a food bible!) ~ drinking from mommy's water bottle and cup at 6 months ~ drinking from a built-in Nubby sipper sports cup at 8 1/2 months ~ throwing his sip cup down after he takes a sip ~ self-feeding skills attempted at 6 months with independent spoon to mouth...very messy! progressing to finger foods using a primitive pincer grasp...raking foods at first or palming them after getting it to his mouth as not to miss anything on his hands! ~ saying um um um as he eats something "yummy" ~ BITING at 7 1/2 months...ouch, yikes...yes we are still breastfeeding, it just took him about 3 weeks to learn "mommy is not for biting...bite your teether!" ~ clicking his tongue ~ making sounds by flicking his hands over his lips ~ discovered his tongue 2 weeks ago and now sticks it out and plays with it...too cute ~ puckering his lips like a fish to give air kisses ~ saying mom, mama, dada, num num, bite, uh-oh, byebye, hi, hey, up, pupu (rare), done (new) ~ using syllable strings of babble in vocal play ~ using jargon with true words and short phrases embedded...like your turn and all done...of course its an approximation of them with the appropriate syllables and adult-like intonation patterns ~ signing takes repeated visual cues for eat, drink, more, all done...he only does these within context of daily routines and when he is really wanting something! Other fun things he is doing include: ~ biting and pulling socks with his teeth...like a dog! ~ throwing everything out of his playpen and toy box...then complaining to get help~ holding his breath and blowing or grunting then laughing ~ pulling his hair and mine! ~ pinching mommy...this is new just this week...oh fun ~ rolling balls around and chasing them ~ clapping hands at midline with help to get him going ~ interactive play..lately he likes me to chase/crawl after him and then he does it to me...very fun, his laugh is contagious ~ increasing attention span to items of interest ~ crawling with 2 items, one in each hand Nicknames were given at different stages of growing(1st to current): * Noodle, Munchie, PJ-pooter junior, 5-Oh (like hawaii five o), Lil' Butt, Love, Smiley, Bitey...of course there will be more! Brinson is 9 months today. He is doing everything but walking (he even is climbing up a small wicker dresser in his room). After a busy Christmas, January has been low key, with everyone being sick and lots of cold weather (including snow). We hope to get back to taking more adventures soon. Brinson has now reached six months. He is saying "Mom" "up" "uh-oh", "numb numb" for (yummy/eat/bite), DaDa and a few other words. Many times he says them we are not sure he knows what he is saying, but he will look right at Shae and say "Mom," and when he wants out of his high chair he says "up." He is now on his knees in the crawl position, so once he gets comfortable steadying himself, watch out! He eats lots of pureed food (all fresh) including avocado, butternut squash, pear, apple and sweet potato. We are learning that the house better be baby proofed in the next few months or we are in for it!! Below are pictures from late October, including when Grandma Pam and PaPa Gerry came for a visit. Look @ me...I'm growing!

I met my new Doctor on August 11th, 2006...She seemed nice but then...DR. BOYKIN GAVE ME 2 SHOTS (prevnar and a combo shot of Hib w/ Hep B). I cried a little but went fast to sleep with the help of Tylenol. I will get my next 2 shots (IPV and DTaP)on the 28th. My doctor says... I'm 14 pounds and 2 ounces and 24 1/2 inches long and my head is 15 3/4 inches round...is that big? Well...I'm in the 75th percentile and growing strong:-) Here are a few things I like to do...and some new facts about me -chew or munch on anything near my mouth -wiggle everywhere during my awake time -lift and turn my head both directions to follow sound/voices -push up on my hands/elbows and roll to the right or left -play with my sounds (mommy helps!) p,b,m,k,g,d,t,w and n. -some words I've said but not intentionally...go, me, no, mom (during feeding), yeah, dah and bee...I mostly ramble -coo, smile, laugh aloud and fake grunt/cry for attention! -pull up with mommy giving resistence to sit up and now I can pull to stand -standing is fun but I wobble a lot -pull blankets over my face...mommy gets on to me but I think it's funny -in the last 2 weeks I've discovered I have toes...1st I just looked at them, then I batted at them and now I'm trying to pull them to my mouth to munch!

Brinson is pleasantly sleeping strapped down without a clue! Must be nice to be so innocent! For those of you that may not know...Bo is currently living in Virginia about 1 hour outside of Washington DC where he just secured a condo for us to live in and we also sold our home in Mississippi and will be moving at the end of June. Please keep us in your prayers as we settle things in MS and prepare to move across the states to support Bo in his new job at KPMG!!!! This is exciting and scary but we are thankful that everything is in God's timing and we will bloom where he plants us...who knows where we will be next!

The Baby Shower: A Belated Slideshow

On March 19, the ladies at Lawndale Presbyterian Church along with Bo's Aunt Janet Kahlstorf gave Shae a baby shower. This was around the time Shae's grandmother died, and so we did not post much about it. We received a lot of gifts, including a wonderful baby monitor from Bo's family, as well as lots of wonderful clothes, diapers, wipes, burping cloths, bibs and Boudreaux's Butt Paste. Most of the pictures we currently have are those later in the shower, so you see some of Bo taking over for a tired Shae. Shae spent the majority of the time opening gifts while Bo stayed in the background. You will be able to see some of the gifts, including the baby monitor, in the slideshow. Lots of people have been getting us gifts, but now that Brinson is here we will not be posting them like we once were. That being said - WE ARE GRATEFUL TO EVERYONE FOR THEIR LOVE, PRAYERS and GIFTS!

Brinson Alexander White. Born at 11:49 a.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2006. He wieghed 7 lbs, 2 ozs., and was 17 and 3/4 inches long. He has a full head of hair already. We will be uploading more pictures, info, etc., when we return from the hospital. Shae is doing well and so is little Brinson. Thanks for everyone's love and support during the trek to bring Brinson into the world. We will upload some pictures for everyone soon. Bo

For those of you checking in, we are going into the hospital tomorrow the 27th for the birth of Brinson Alexander White. We will hopefully have pictures, etc. up soon. For those thinking this post refers to the show "Annie" or the end of every Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood show, your mind is as disturbing as mine is. Bo

38 Weeks and going on 3 days...We're Close!

A quick update for those who care to know!

MD appt. yesterday 4/17/06:

gained 5 pounds...but MD says it's all water weight and believe me...you can tell it in my forearms, hands, fingers, thighs, calves, feet, toes...still having poor circulation with numbness in my hands mostly.
measured 37 cm from pelvis to fundus, almost 4 cm in dilation and close to 80% cervical thinning
contractions have increased in number and strength but nothing really consistent yet...in the ball park of 10 minutes apart or less on average.

I'm going to call the MD and possibly meet him at the hospital today since it's his day on call there, he can check me for any changes....if I'm between a 4 and 5 cm and thinned anymore...he will admit me and give me the meds to speed up this phase of labor to get me into active labor...otherwise we will wait until my contractions get closer to do more natural changes to get me closer to delivery!

No matter what...I will be induced no later than next week...my MD is on call both Tuesday and Thursday at the hospital and I have a scheduled appt. with him on Wednesday 4/26/06....so we shall see!

Hey all, we are close to the April 29th due date and doing great.

Currently...Mommy measures 3 cm dilation and 70% effacement as of today
Mommy's baby belly is 35 cm from pelvis to fundus
Brinson's heart rate is in the mid 140 range and dropping...so Dr. says that's good!
Mommy is great and gained another 3 pounds!...but tired and having some changes that indicate Brinson's arrival is very soon.
Mommy is also struggling with pregnancy induced carpal tunnel and it is terrible...my hands fall asleep and ache so bad at night that it's hard to get comfortable for my hands to get good circulation and then get in a position for the baby...he is very active through out the night.
Dr. says he thinks my body will go into labor naturally but if it doesn't he will induce the week of my due date.

Bo's secretary Donna painted this for our nursery! She is a wonderful painter and really shocked us at our drop-in baby shower we attended on Sunday 3/19/06. We thought we would share this painting since it will adorn our baby's nursery wall, not to mention again how incredible we think it was of Donna to spend so much time and energy into such a spectacular gift!

AND...Bo has officially announced our son's name!!!!! But first I will take you down the geneology trail...to explain how we searched for names and the name he decided to bless our convenant child with for the rest of his life!

the first name came from Bo's mom's family...Martha Lynn (Ellis) White:

Mathew Brinson and Brenda Cason had Col. Cason Brinson Sr. who married Frances Marsh and they had a junior. Cason Brinson Jr married Anne Fulcher and had Amey Brinson who married Hasten Dixon and they had Mixon Draper Dixon. He married Miriam DeVane and they had Mary Elizabeth Dixon who married John Wesley Feagin and had Benjamin Edward Feagin. Ben married Martha Ora Lloyd and they had Ora Feagin who married Edwin Perry Grant and they had Martha Frances Grant who married Bo's Granddaddy...Robert Byron Ellis who had Bo's mom.

the middle name (not as far back on the food chain!) came from Bo's dad's family...

Robert Blake White, II:

William White married Eady Keene who had King White. King married Telina and they had Alexander White. Alexander married Mary Elizabeth Simmons who had James Benjamen White. James married Rebecca Pirtle and they had Robert Blake White. Robert Blake married Ann Pirtle and they had Maclin Pirtle White. Mac married Marion Frances Thompson and they had Bo's dad...Robert Blake White, II...

so did you follow all of that mess! So for current history...Robert Blake White, II married Martha Lynn Ellis and had Robert Blake White, III...aka Bo and he married Shae Lynn Berryman and we are having....

A Sad Goodbye...3/17/06

With mixed emotions My family and I said goodbye to my granny at 4:30pm on 3/17/06. The last time I had spoken to her on the phone was in the early-mid part of last week a few days before she passed. She was unable to talk but she listened and patted my mother's hand as if in agreement to what we were saying. I was able to sing her our prayertime song and read her my poem previously written about her on 2/11/06. It was a bitter sweet moment because I was somehow letting her go and at the same time, I was hoping she was proud of what I had written about her and what she meant to my family and me.

I feel numb today regarding my emotion toward her death. I hear the words...she's gone...but it seems confusing, as if someone is speaking a different language. I really struggled on friday but never once have I ever questioned her faith or mine because we both know and believe in God's will. Granny's life celebration and funeral will occur on Wednesday 3/22/06 in Fayetteville, Ark.

I remembered a song that she loved, as it was sung at her brother (Golden Ward's) funeral years ago...so I thought I would share it with you...and most of you will probably know this familiar church hymn.

I would also like to share that a previous client of mine...Derek...passed away this week. God called Derek to close his eyes and rest after a long battle. He was buried in the children's garden in Verona, MS on friday 3/17/06. Derek was 2 1/2 years old and was an exceptional little boy with a sweet spirit. He was a joy to work with and had a contagious smile regardless of the circumstance. He was a miracle baby that nobody thought would make it past his 1st heart surgery at birth. Please keep his family left behind in your prayers as well.

Okay...lots to explain...

My fabulous sister and brother-in-law(Jodi and Glenn) bought us the crib.
Barb and Glenn(not pictured) bought us an outfit and bib.
Barb, Karina and Karina's son David came to visit on 3/11/06...lots of fun!
My favorite soccer coach Frank bought us baby's first silver collection and a parenting book...I'm sure we need;-)
Bo's sister and brother-in-law (Leah and Grant) bought us an infant carrier.
Karina and little David gave us heart beat bear, pampers and wipes and a batch of goodies to borrow.
My childhood girlfriend Rebecca and her mother Patsy bought us our 3 in 1 pack-n-play!!!
My college friend and her husband (Deana and Eric) bought us an ortho-pacifier, colorful teething blocks and the aquarium kick-n-crawl with 3 stages to grow.
My wonderful soccer friend Christy bought us our green canvas organizer and a blue changing pad cover.
